Carers
Do you look after someone who is
frail, disabled or mentally ill? If so
you are a carer.
Caring for someone is an important
and valuable role and is often a 24-hour
job that can be very demanding and
isolating. Carers are often ‘hidden’,
looking after a family member, neighbour
or friend without actually seeing
themselves as a 'carer'.
We are keen to highlight the
importance of carers, so please notify
us if you help to look after someone who
would not be able to cope without your
support, so that we can look after your
needs too. Carers are entitled to a
Carer's Assessment which provides a
chance to talk about their needs as a
carer and the possible ways help could
be given. It also looks at the needs of
the person for whom they care. There is
no charge for an assessment.
Please contact the Reception Team if
you are a carer so that we can update
our records and provide you with a
carer's pack containing relevant
information about national and local
support services and help you understand
any benefits you may be entitled to.
