Child Health
Resources
At Pembroke Road we are committed to supporting families and children as they grow from babies to young adults.
We have lots of resources to help with this including information about crying babies, parenting, physical and mental health concerns.
Immunisations
We ask all new babies to come to the surgery for a GP check up and then their immunisations. You will be sent a letter with their appointments. Babies are born with some short term some antibodies from their mother via the placenta. Their immune system will build up their own antibodies to the many viruses in our environment once they start socialising with other children and families. The only way to gain immunity to rarer, but potentially serious infections such as meningococcus, measles, diphtheria and tetanus, is by having immunisations.
There is more information about these here:
Poorly Poppets
Dr Perks runs sessions a few times a year to talk parents through what to expect as their child's immune system develops and they catch coughs and colds, tummy bugs and other minor illnesses. You will be invited to the session by text massage.
